Jugendstil, Modernism and Minimalism is that possible in the times we live in?
With that question I went looking by delving into the designs of my predecessors, such as designers of "De Stijl" a collective of Dutch artists, architects and craftsmen such as Piet Mondriaan and Gerrit Rietveld. The main purpose of these was to strive for harmony and balance by using simple image and form aspects, such as the universal colours, black-and-white hues and the greys, the horizontal, the vertical and later the diagonal, the rectangular shapes and the basic shapes, two dimensional and three dimensional. The Bauhaus Movement founded by Walter Gropius who worked closely with "De Stijl" also liked to see these aspects reflected in their works. I myself have focused specifically on the constructions and not so much on the arts, such as Marcel Breuer with his "Wassily Chair" and Gerrit Rietveld with his "Zig Zag Chair".
In their vision and ideas I started to design and create in order to follow in the footsteps of the aforementioned greats, but of course also to answer the question. To my conscience this is indeed still possible and as a designer I have succeeded in doing so. I also hope that I can satisfy you "design enthusiasts" with this. So go quickly to my gallery to judge for yourself! But if you are not very satisfied, I hope that somewhere a trigger has gone off for inspiration, want if there is no inspiration there is no life.
